Nature fun at the Field

🌿Connecting children to nature and each other in fun and creative ways  🌿Building self-esteem and confidence 🌿Fostering curiosity, resilience and a love of wild spaces.

Nature Fun at the Field is our programme for home educated and flexi-schooled children between the ages of 8-13 years at our base in Folly Mead Field, near Bridport. Join our experienced forest school leaders, Clare and Siobhan, every Thursday during school term time from 10am -3pm.

Our aim for this group is to

🌿Provide a safe, non-judgmental and nurturing environment for the young people to develop their sense of self, community and belonging.

🌿Support the young people to grow and learn holistically, building self-esteem, confidence, and wellbeing.

🌿Enable young people to try out new things, take risks in a supported way, deepen interests, and develop practical skills in areas such as fire     making, foraging, nature crafts, shelter building and ecology.

🌿Deepen their connection with, and love of, the natural world.

🌿Foster curiosity, creativity and a sense of adventure.

🌿Kindle kindness and inclusion.

We aim to do all this in fun and creative ways.

We believe in compassionate, child-centred learning and see our roles as space holders, mentors and facilitators, rather than deliverers of a curriculum. As part of our forest school approach to learning, we aim to follow and plan around the children’s needs and interests.

We ask that all our participants follow four simple principles: to look after themselves, to look after each other, to look after nature, and to look after things.  We explore these with our group to identify what our needs are (individually and as a group) and how to meet them to ensure a safe and happy forest school session for all.
