Siobhan made a video to show us how to use the compost loo. Don't be scared☺️ Compost Loo at Thriving Wild
Ticks are becoming much more common across the UK and are found across Dorset. They can carry Lymes disease which is transferrable to humans, and we are ALL being encouraged to become tick aware!
Don’t let ticks put you off getting out into nature. Here is a great website with lots of easy to digest information on ticks, Lyme’s Disease and how to stay safe. Lyme Disease UK - Lyme disease charity for patient support and advice
Staying safe with us:
🌿Spray ankles and wrists with tick spray. We will have some tick spray for you to apply when you arrive.
🌿Carry out a tick check after your time with us! It’s good to get into a regular habit of tick checks after spending time outdoors. When doing a tick check, pay special attention to the following areas where ticks like to hide: - behind your ears, your scalp and hair, around the neck, under your arms, inside the belly button, between the legs, around the waist.
🌿If you find a tick, remove it as soon as possible using a tick remover. It’s good to have a tick remover at home at the ready. You can buy tick removing tools from our local pharmacies, or even from us on the day (whilst our stocks last).
🌿It can also help to wear long trousers tucked into socks and a long-sleeved to on the day. However, you may not feel comfortable that way, or it may be too hot! So, it’s: tick spray before and tick check after🙂
